Have you ever conquered Mount Everest?

Not in real life, but during our recent leadership and team spirit training in Ukraine, four teams took on the challenge in a unique business simulation game: Conquering Everest.

Strengthening Leadership and Motivation

The training series focused on building motivation and team spirit through practical exercises and proven methods. One highlight was the TWI Job Relations module -which introduced the groundbreaking idea that leadership can be learned. The practical tool that helps to create a leadership culture by building respect, trust, and cooperation among employees.

Its core principles:

  • A leader gets results through people
  • People must be treated as individuals
  • Problem-solving follows the PDCA cycle: Get the facts – Weigh and Decide – Take Action – Check Results
The Everest Challenge

The second major event was the business simulation game Conquering Everest – a 21-day journey where four teams faced challenges similar to real workplace situations:

  • Limited resources and time
  • Aggressive deadlines
  • Unpredictable conditions
  • The need for quick, strategic decisions

The goal? Reach the summit of Everest and return safely to base. Careful planning, adaptability, and teamwork were essential for success.

Lessons Learned

After the simulation, a debriefing session revealed an important truth: in our daily race, we often focus on personal goals and forget that together we are stronger. Collaboration and communication help us “survive” and succeed – whether on Everest or in business.

Interestingly, only one team managed to return “alive” to base. The others “died” on the way back due to lack of resources. This powerful metaphor reminded us that success is not just about reaching the top, but about supporting each other along the way.

A New Mindset

We learned a lot, and everyone discovered their own “Everest” – a personal challenge to conquer. From now on, we will approach these peaks with a different mindset: stronger teamwork, better communication, and shared responsibility.

We are one family, one big team – ODW-ELEKTRIK. Thank you for your active participation and unforgettable emotions!
