Cable assembly is one of our core competencies
Our special expertise in this area allows us to feel at home in automotive cable connections with particularly high requirements. Among other things we specialise in the delicate leads for airbags, various sensor applications in engine management and cable sets for storage batteries.
The different requirements result from the field of application of the respective products. We develop the cable harnesses in close cooperation with our customers according to their specifications and application parameters. Here we use modern three-dimensional CAD workstations to incorporate the requirements in the best possible way.
In addition to basic cable assembly such as cutting, dismantling, stripping and crimping we also manufacture using resistance-, ultrasonic- and laser welding. Depending on the application, it may be required to protect the plug-in connectors or junctions from outside impacts by means of an encapsulant. For this purpose, we use technologies such as polymer injection moulding or casting with polyamide-based thermoplastic hot-melt adhesive.
Our complex production lines allow the fully automated manufacturing of cable sets.

Special requirements apply to the function and manufacture of safety-relevant assemblies, such as supply lines to airbags.
ODW has qualified itself as a supplier of these products over many years and develops special solutions in cooperation with the customer.
Belt buckle switches with and without supply cables
According to the specifications set by the automotive industry, there are mechanical and electronic switches.
We develop both mechanical and electronic switches with Hall-IC. This is supplemented by cable assembly in the area of belt buckle supply cables.
The production takes place on semi- and fully- automatic systems.
Leads with integrated electronics
The steady increase in electronic components for a wide range of applications is closely related to cable assembly.
More and more vehicles are being equipped with electric drives for opening and closing rear lids. In combination with sensors for contactless opening and closing, this is a great innovation in modern vehicle technology.
Depending on the operating conditions, these components are protected and encapsulated by various types of housing.
Sensor cables, round and flat conductors
Supply lines are prefabricated and welded according to customer requirements.
Afterwards, the cable ends are inserted into a multiple casting tool and tightly encapsulated.
Exhaust sensor leads
Exhaust sensor leads are found in very hot areas of the engine and have high requirements with respect to temperature resistance and stability against external environmental conditions.
For these applications we manufacture PTFE-insulated cables and wires and combine them with ceramic components which can withstand high temperatures.
